Enhancing Group Management Skills for Nature-Based Early Childhood Educators
This 3-hour interactive workshop is designed for educators working in outdoor and nature-based early childhood settings. Facilitating group dynamics in outdoor environments comes with unique opportunities—and challenges. This session provides practical, responsive strategies for managing group behavior, supporting smooth transitions in open-air classrooms, and fostering inclusive, connected communities in the natural world.
Participants will explore how classroom layout, routines, and behavior guidance translate to outdoor learning spaces—such as forest classrooms, gardens, or trails. Through hands-on activities like role-play, collaborative problem-solving, and case study discussions, educators will reflect on common group management challenges and build solutions that honor children’s developmental needs and individual differences.
With a focus on inclusive practices rooted in Universal Design for Learning (UDL), this workshop supports educators in cultivating environments where all children—regardless of ability, language, or sensory profile—feel safe, seen, and supported in nature-based learning.
Participants leave with ready-to-use strategies, a personalized action plan, and deeper confidence in leading joyful, regulated, and inclusive group experiences outdoors.
